English
In the misty rain of West Lake, a white snake of a thousand years became a beautiful woman. On the Broken Bridge she met Xu Xian; one umbrella sheltered them from the rain, and they married. But the monk Fahai was certain a human and a spirit could not stay together. To save her husband she raised the waters and flooded the Golden Mountain, yet was sealed beneath Leifeng Pagoda. The rain on West Lake still falls; people have told this story for a thousand years.
