Mengjiang's husband was conscripted to build the Great Wall. She traveled thousands of miles to find him, her weeping collapsing 800 li of the wall.

两千多年前，成千上万的男子被抓去北方修长城。新婚才三天，孟姜女的丈夫也被带走了。冬天来了，她缝好寒衣，亲自送去北方，走过千山万水。可丈夫早已累死，埋在城墙里。孟姜女在城墙下哭了三天三夜，长城倒下八百里，露出丈夫的遗骨。长城的砖石记得这个故事。

Over two thousand years ago thousands of men were taken north to build the Great Wall. Just three days after her wedding, Meng Jiangnu's husband was taken away. When winter came she sewed warm clothes and journeyed north herself, crossing a thousand mountains — only to learn he had died and been buried in the wall. She wept three days and nights; eight hundred li of wall crumbled. The stones remember her story.
